About

Welcome. I’m Glad You’re Here.

Everyday Gospel Living grew from a simple desire: to become more deeply anchored in Jesus Christ by learning to recognize and live His gospel in everyday life.

I don’t believe testimony is a destination we finally reach. It is something we continue to build throughout our lives—one experience, one question, one prayer, one scripture, and sometimes one difficult step at a time.

My own journey has taught me that faith isn’t always strengthened in extraordinary moments. Often, it grows in the ordinary ones.

It happens when we choose faith even when we are afraid.

When we try again after a difficult day.

When we extend compassion because we realize we may not know someone’s whole story.

When we serve someone who needs us.

When we recognize God’s hand in our families, relationships, challenges, and adventures.

When we keep walking even though we cannot see very far down the road.

And when we open the scriptures and discover that something written thousands of years ago speaks directly to something happening in our lives today.

That is what Everyday Gospel Living is about.

Likening the Scriptures Unto Us

One of the purposes of this space is to study the scriptures by asking a simple question:

What does this teach me about following Jesus Christ today?

Rather than simply reading what happened, I want to look for what the Lord may be teaching us through it.

What can Noah teach us about continuing when the world doesn’t understand?

What can Abraham teach us about trusting God when we don’t understand His plan?

What can Mary teach us about allowing faith to prevail over fear?

What can Joseph teach us about compassion, quiet righteousness, and moving forward before we have all the answers?

The people and circumstances may be different from ours, but the principles of the gospel continue to speak to our lives.

This is what I mean by Likening the Scriptures Unto Us.

The scriptures aren’t simply stories about people who lived long ago. They can become a guide for the lives we are living right now.

Becoming Deeply Anchored in Christ

Ether 12:4 beautifully expresses what I hope to develop through this journey:

“Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God.”

I love the image of an anchor.

Life doesn’t promise calm water. Faith doesn’t necessarily remove the storms, trials, questions, disappointments, or uncertainty.

But our hope in Jesus Christ can anchor us through them.

An anchor doesn’t prevent the storm. It helps keep us from being carried away by it.

That is the kind of faith I want to develop—a faith that makes me more sure and steadfast, draws me toward good works, and ultimately helps me glorify God through the way I live.

Looking Toward the Light

I also love the image of a lighthouse.

An anchor keeps us steady, while a lighthouse helps us see where we are going.

A lighthouse doesn’t remove the rocks.

It doesn’t calm the storm.

It doesn’t shorten the journey.

It simply continues to shine through the darkness, helping us recognize where safety lies and which direction we need to travel.

Jesus Christ is that light for me.

There will be times when I cannot see the entire path ahead. I am learning that I don’t have to.

I can look toward His light and take the next faithful step.

Sometimes that step may be studying a scripture.

Sometimes it may be offering forgiveness.

Sometimes it may be serving someone.

Sometimes it may be changing something in my own life.

And sometimes it may simply be choosing to trust Him for one more day.

Holding to the Iron Rod

Along the journey, we also need something to hold onto.

The Book of Mormon gives us the beautiful image of the iron rod—the word of God.

There may be times when the path is clear and walking forward feels easy. There may also be times when the way feels uncertain and we cannot see very far ahead.

Those are the times when holding firmly to the word of God matters even more.

The scriptures give us something steady to hold onto while the Savior’s light helps us know which direction to go.

We don’t need to know every turn the road will take.

We simply need to keep holding on and continue walking toward Him.

Faith Lived in Everyday Life

That’s why Everyday Gospel Living isn’t only about scripture study.

It’s about taking what we learn from the scriptures and allowing it to change how we live.

It’s about faith, family, service, testimony, connection, and adventure.

It’s about recognizing that some of our greatest spiritual lessons may happen around a dinner table, on a family trip, during a difficult conversation, while serving someone else, in the middle of a trial, or during an ordinary day when we suddenly recognize that God has been there all along.

My desire isn’t simply to know more about the gospel.

I want the gospel to become part of who I am.

I want it to influence how I treat people, how I respond to challenges, how I strengthen my family, how I serve, how I forgive, how I make decisions, and how I continue becoming more like the Savior.

Testimony Is a Journey

I don’t see testimony as something we either have or don’t have.

And I don’t believe testimony is a destination where we finally arrive and say, “I made it.”

It is an ongoing journey of becoming closer to Jesus Christ.

Some days our faith may feel strong.

Other days we may have questions.

Sometimes we may take several steps forward, and sometimes we may discover that we need to stop, learn something, change direction, or begin again.

What matters is that we continue turning toward Christ.

At the end of the day, I don’t need to ask myself whether I lived the gospel perfectly.

Maybe a better question is:

Did I take a step toward the Savior today?

That step matters.

The Meaning Behind the Journey

The images that have become part of Everyday Gospel Living each represent something I hope to carry with me:

The lighthouse reminds me to look toward Jesus Christ.

The iron rod reminds me to hold firmly to the word of God.

The path reminds me that discipleship is an ongoing journey.

The anchor reminds me that faith in Jesus Christ gives me hope and helps me become sure and steadfast.

Together, they remind me that I don’t have to see the entire journey to keep moving forward.

I simply need to stay anchored, hold on, look toward the Light, and take the next step.

You Are Welcome Here

I hope Everyday Gospel Living becomes a place where we can study together, reflect honestly, ask questions, recognize God’s hand in ordinary experiences, strengthen our testimonies, serve others, and encourage one another to keep moving forward.

You don’t need to have everything figured out to be here.

Bring your scriptures.

Bring your questions.

Bring your experiences.

Bring your struggles.

Bring your stories.

Bring the faith you already have.

And let’s keep walking this path together—

one day,
one scripture,
one experience,
and one faithful step at a time.

Not perfectly.

Just faithfully.

Always looking toward the Light.

Always holding to the word of God.

Always becoming more deeply anchored in Jesus Christ.
